I'm a university lecturer based in the UK. One of my biggest worries about AI is the very real possibility of extinction risk - the thought that everything that humanity has built over thousands of years could all be lost in just the next few years. It makes me quite angry and frightened to think that these tech billionaires are rolling the dice with humanity's future. We are all in this together and we need to cooperate to take control of our future. We might be the only intelligence there is in the universe, and it would be a dreadful tragedy to squander it all unthinkingly.
